Background
There are currently over 350 literature festivals in the UK, with less than 10% solely dedicated to children. We would like more emphasis on encouraging children to enjoy books, with an increased number of dedicated children’s festivals in general and concentrating on more deprived and challenging areas.We want to be inclusive, not exclusive – to help our children and communities feel valued. It is our aim to organise and take literature festivals into towns and areas that don’t currently have representation.
