Tanja Jennings is a dedicated school librarian who has represented Northern Ireland on four judging panels for the Carnegie Book Awards for Writing and Illustration. Her studies in children’s literature, role as founder and co-ordinator of the Northern Ireland heat of the global Kids’ Lit Quiz competition, extensive work as a children’s book reviewer for numerous publications, library related articles, author interviews through social media and posts as a creative book blogger at www.goodnighttoread.wordpress.com have inspired her passion for promoting reading for pleasure to young people. She believes that books make the world a better place because they promote diversity, empathy, imagination, inclusivity, kindness and knowledge. Among her favourite picture books are ‘Sugar Pink Rose’ which explores independence and identity, ‘There Is a Tribe of Kids’, which is about belonging and ‘Visible Sounds’, a nuanced and inclusive exploration of a deaf child’s discovery of vibration and dance. Tanja is delighted to be an ambassador for the Children’s Literature Festivals charity.
