Welcome to our 2024/25 Children’s Literature Festivals Book Award 

Huge thanks to all publishers for supporting our first book awards in 2022/23 that have been a huge success.  Primary age children from twenty schools and ten libraries in less privileged areas were introduced to authors and illustrators through a variety of book titles to help explore and inspire a love of reading. For 2023/24 we will be involving a smaller selection of libraries and increasing the number of schools to help the children decide what books they enjoyed the most and why.  We will be encouraging children to read aloud some excerpts of the stories for us to post online  – to help share the love of reading aloud.

Timeline 

Publishers are invited to submit suggestions of their chosen titles of books published from 15th September 2023 to 15th October 2024, once accepted we will require  x 22 copies of each (donated). The books will be sent to the chosen primary schools and libraries for the children to read and provide feedback by 15th May 2024. The top three books and winning titles per category will be published online on 9th June 2025, NSPCC Childhood Day.

***Deadline for submissions; 30th September 2024. Maximum of five titles per publisher for each category. All authors must live in the UK.***

 The Prizes

Each winning author/Illustrator will receive a glass book award. We will run a draw for one of our winning authors to visit a participating  schools or library. If any publisher would like to help and fund other visits that would be wonderful? We are also looking for sponsors of each award.

The Judges 

Primary age children will be judging with an additional Teachers Award.
